DDD Independent Oversight Committees
The DES Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Independent Oversight Committees (IOC) are established in accordance with ARS § 41-3801 and and 41-3804. Each committee is comprised of groups of local citizens who provide support and review in matters to the rights of people with developmental disabilities where services are provided. The DDD committees by region are: Central, Eastern, Northern, Western, and Southern (Tucson and Sierra Vista).
Per statute each IOC is comprised of 7-15 members who have expertise in: psychology, law, medicine, education, special education, social work, criminal justice. The committee shall also include at least two parents of children who receive services from the division of developmental disabilities.
Per statute the DDD IOC shall review incidents of:
1. Possible abuse or neglect or violations of rights.
2. Physical abuse, sexual abuse and other abuse.
3. Accidental injury.
4. Missing clients.
5. Behavioral emergency measures.
6. Medication errors, including theft of medication or missing medication.
8. Suicide attempts.
11. Theft of client property or money.
12. Property destruction.
The cadence of the IOC meetings are as follows. DDD Central meets the 4th Monday at 10:00am; DDD East meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:00pm; DDD West meets the 4th Wednesday at 5:30pm; DDD South meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 1:00pm; DDD North meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:00pm.
Pursuant to A.R.S. Section 38-431.02, the DDD Independent Oversight Committees is providing this notice regarding the physical and electronic locations where all public notices regarding public meetings, including the meeting agenda, are posted. The Board posts all public notices, including the agenda and meeting minutes, electronically on this page and on the Arizona Public Meeting Notices Website.
